Sake Surprise – The “Biergarten” Will Host SAKE DAY’26 “Kick-Off” Event

Let me tell you how we roll! True Sake and your friends at Hayes Valley’s “Biergarten” (www.biergartensf.com), one block away from our store, wanted to host an outdoor event to celebrate the beginning of SAKE DAY 2026 “WEEK.” Yes Sirree! We’ve decided to kick off the week on Wednesday, September 23rd, from 4–7 PM at this amazing outdoor German Beer Garden with awesome Oktoberfest-style benches, tables, pretzels, and kimonos!

If you can’t go to SAKE DAY, then let SAKE DAY come to you!

The tasting will feature two stalwart breweries from the Skurnik Sake portfolio and will be free with ID to taste their sake lineups. And more importantly, several of the sakes will be available to purchase by the glass, by the bottle, and to go. How cool is that? So, grab a brew or two and pair it with authentic German beer hall foods and even beer itself! Sake and beer are a thing!

To launch SAKE DAY 2026, we are very pleased to announce Mie Prefecture’s Shimizu Seizaburo Shoten, makers of Zaku, and Kochi Prefecture’s Hamakawa Shoten, makers of Bijofu, will be at the Biergarten to get your sake engine revving! Of course, Zaku will be pouring the “Welcome Sake” at SAKE DAY ’26, and Bijofu is every dry sake fan’s dream come true.

Come be a part of sake history at 2026’s official sake party, called Nihonshu no Hi, or “Day of Sake,” which begins on Wednesday, September 23rd, before the Granddaddy of them all, SAKE DAY 2026 (The 21st Anniversary), on Saturday, September 26th.

• WHY: For those who cannot attend SAKE DAY, we have invited two amazing sake breweries to pour their lineups in a beautiful, outdoor, authentic Beer Garden, pairing Japanese sake with traditional Oktoberfest foods!
